In September and October 1995, eight artists from three African and three European countries met for a two-month, collaborative work stay in Pédakondji, Togo. The group, two women and six men, some self-taught, some graduates of an art academy, met with the aim of promoting dialogue between cultures. The meeting place was the local art center "Amehonou" with its studios and a large meeting house in the Togolese village of Pédakondji, near Lomé.
